    Our West Palm Beach scuba diving lessons allow truly passionate divers to take their love for the sport a step further. The Divemaster course is designed for divers who want to be leaders that motivate and mentor others to share their same sense of confidence and ability. With this program, you’ll gain greater knowledge of diving, develop management abilities, and become a professional diver that others look up to and feel comfortable learning from. If you love SCUBA diving and would like to share your passion with others on a greater level, then this is the class for you!

    Divemaster/Assistant Instructor*

    Description

    This is the first professional rating in the SCUBA industry. Divemasters are legally insured for liability and may work in the industry guiding certified divers, assisting instructors with training, and may teach a small number of courses such as refresher courses. Students must be 18 years or older to participate in our West Palm Beach SCUBA diving lessons and the minimum number of logged dives required prior to start is 40. As a professional Divemaster you’ll be able to easily perform common dive skills as well as easily solve common diving problems. You will be a role model and perhaps even mentor your fellow divers!

    *A Rescue Diver and CPR Certification from any recognized agency is a prerequisite for this course.

    Instructional

    Some of the activities and workshops you’ll participate in throughout this course are:
    •   Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers
    •   Practicing diver safety and risk management
    •   Being able to recognize and adapt in different dive environments
    •   Applying your dive setup and management skills
    •   Mapping an open water site
    •   Coordinating and giving dive briefings
    •   Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive
    •   Teaching a scuba review and skin diver course
    •   Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs

    Equipment/Gear

    Becoming a dive professional will require that you have all your own basic scuba equipment, as well as a dive computer, a dive knife, and two surface signaling devices. Some of the additional equipment you’ll need is:
    •   A compass
    •   Floats
    •   Marker buoys
    •   Lift bags
    •   Slates

    Your instructor may also suggest additional gear that will be useful throughout your diving career.

    Please keep in mind that the Divemaster course does not include rental gear.

    Open Water CERTIFICATION SCUBA Instructor*

    Description

    With this rating, you are capable of teaching and certifying students from the Open Water level all the way up to the Divemaster level. You will be able to introduce people to the amazing world of marine life and topography that we see underwater. This training is done in two parts: an Instructor Development Course and an Instructor Evaluation. During the Instructor Development Course, you will learn how to find and teach to the Standards and Procedures of SCUBA Diving International and prepare you for some potential difficulties that some students may have along the way. You are also introduced to the Business of Diving and are set up for success by learning how to make this a part-time or full-time career! Students must be at least 18 years old and have a minimum of 100 logged dives. Remember that the experiences that you have accumulated under water are more important than the number of dives you’ve accumulated.

    *A Divemaster or Assistant Instructor and CPR Certification from any recognized agency is a prerequisite for this course.

  • Confined and Open Water Presentations
  • Demonstrating Skills including Rescue Diver techniques
  • Teaching Open Water, Advanced Adventurer, Rescue, and Divemaster Courses
  • Teaching Defensively and Professional Liability
  • Instructor Examination
  • Equipment/Gear

    Please keep in mind that the Open Water SCUBA Instructor course does not include rental gear. It does include the Pro OWSI Kit (learning and teaching materials) and Instructor Examination Fee.
