Shark Diving Trips in Jupiter, Fl

Shark Diving

How close have you been to a Shark? When you saw it, did it swim away before you were able to get your camera ready? Did you or someone else chase it and notice how it swam even faster away from you? What if I told you I could introduce you to my finned friends in Jupiter and you could spend 2-3 hours with them underwater?
Normally when we see sharks, they’re afraid of divers. They don’t like the sounds that we make, they don’t like that we blow bubbles, and I hypothesize that they’re not fans of our tight-fitting black suits either. So they normally leave us alone unless we have food for them. When we bring food, they do not become interested in us, but they become interested in the food. We will go into Federal Waters, just over 3 nautical miles offshore where many dive boats have brought food to the sharks.

There are a handful of dive sites that the shark diving boats frequent, some wrecks, and some reefs. We’re lucky enough here in Palm Beach to have Silky, Dusky, Lemon, Bulls, Reef, Great Hammerhead, Scalloped Hammerhead, Nurse, Sandbar, and even Tiger Sharks! They each have their own behavior towards divers but none of them are aggressive towards us. They are spectacular creatures. There is a famous lemon shark in Jupiter named Snooty. It is believed that she is the most photographed shark in the world! She has her own Facebook Page. She and the Tiger sharks tend to get special treatment.

John has been feeding sharks professionally since 2015. He has done so from three different boats. Of course, there are inherent risks with SCUBA diving and shark diving is no different. It is up to each individual certified diver to monitor their air and computer and to dive their profile. When you dive with a trusted dive operation and an experienced feeder, it does minimize (but not eliminate) the risks involved in shark diving. It is very important to listen to all of the diving and safety briefings before any dive.

So grab your camera or just capture memories and let’s go see some sharks!
John is available as a Private Guide on Shark Diving Trips. He is also available to feed for groups.
