EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE

Description

Emergency First Response training will focus on making lay rescuers feel more confident and increase their readiness to respond when faced with a medical crisis. Throughout this course, participants will learn easy to follow steps for emergency medical care. They’ll also practice using these new skills in a calm, controlled learning environment. Some of the course materials you’ll use are self-study manuals, videos, and quick reference cards.

Instructional

Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) - The Primary Care course will teach you the proper steps and techniques for handling a life-threatening emergency. Here, you’ll practice 8 new techniques and learn the latest CPR specifications. The skills you’ll learn in this course will help prepare you for aiding patients who:
•   Are not breathing
•   Have no heartbeat
•   Have a spinal injury
•   Have serious bleeding
•   Are in shock

The Secondary Care course will help prepare you for non-life-threatening emergencies that may still require some medical attention. Because medical services may be delayed or unavailable, having the knowledge of how to provide simple first aid is very important. This course will teach participants first aid techniques that ease the pain for patients and reduces the risk of further harm or distress. You’ll also learn to assess a variety of injuries and illnesses and you’ll get to practice bandaging and splinting.
•   CPR and AED - This course will teach CPR training and also shows participants the proper way to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
•   Care for Children - This course will teach you how to use your emergency care skills specifically for children and infants.
